They Posted These So I Don’t Have To

These are some of my favorite posts from around the web this past week.  Just because I’ve been posting up a storm, doesn’t mean that I haven’t been keeping up with my blog reader!

Julia from the boo and the boy found these photos of A Colorful Family Home.  It’s a beautiful house tour with inspiration around every corner.

Coos & Ahhs posted these gorgeous Stacking Blocks by MoMa and I’m ready to order them up.  (on a side note here, isn’t is amazing what kind of influence beautiful photography can have on product marketing?)

With a lighter but just as colorful palette, with two cats assembled a beautiful collection in her Color Craze post.

I also want to share the trailer for “Being Elmo.”  Whether you’re a fan of Elmo or can’t stand him, there’s no way you won’t love Kevin Clash. (via Babyology)

Finally, in case you’ve forgotten to do so, I’d truly be grateful for your vote in Parents magazine’s Best Blog Awards. Thank you!

New Piece in Nurserywork’s Vetro Collection: The Vetro Rocker

Last year, by far the biggest show-stopper at ABC Kids Expo was the fully acrylic Hollis crib, now renamed the Vetro Crib.  This year, it has a partner in the form of Nurseryworks‘ incredible Vetro Rocker.

This piece is really dramatic in person, and its got a very fun rock when you’re sitting in it.

The Vetro Rocker will be available in the first part of 2012 in Slate, Mocha and Ecru and will retail for $1750.

So, who’s going to be the first one to order up this little slice of drama?  I really can’t wait to add it to the rocker list on our Modern Baby Seats Guide!

New from Argington at ABC Kids Expo 2011

I often find myself in the cheering section for Argington.  With great, original designs at a reasonable price point, there’s a lot to cheer for.

Walking the aisles at ABC Kids Expo this year, it was hard to miss the new color for Argington’s Bam Bam crib and Bam Six Drawer Dresser.  At first I was a little shocked, but it’s actually a really interesting shade of green that would be fun to work with.

By the way, the Bam Bam crib is finally available and will appear on Argington’s website in a few weeks.

The Sahara Crib is also featuring a new gray and white color combo and is shown here with Gingko bedding, which should be available soon.

The other new organic crib bedding sets, Planes & Clouds and Silhouettes (shown below), should also be available very shortly.

I’ll keep you up to date of course!

Complete Your Puj Tub Collection

I think that Puj tubs are the best product to use for baby’s first baths.  I love how they’re easy to use in the sink and fold flat to dry and for storage.  Puj debuted new bath colors at ABC Kids Expo last weekend as well as some clever accessories.

Puj nubs are the perfect answer for where to hang your Puj tub.  You can also use them to hang towels and clothes.  Puj tub + Nubs = the perfect combination.  Puj was also showing Cling, an organic infant towel and wash mitt set which included a Puj Nub to hang it.  These will all make for fabulous baby shower gifts!

If the Nubs aren’t enough, there are also Hubs, strong grippy hooks that screw into the wall.

Finally, you’ve got the Snug spout cover which is cleverly made from leftover Puj material.

Put these down on your baby shower gift idea list pronto.  They’ll be available soon.

Welcome to the US, Babyhome!

Originating in Spain, as much of the most original design these days does, Babyhome is exploding onto the US market with a a well-rounded collection of simple, stylish and colorful baby gear.

In the photo above, you can see their SweetKit, which is a bouncer that transforms into a high chair.  Talk about multi-tasking!  Behind the SweetKits you can see Side, which is the most stylish bed rail (other than those that are designed as part of a bed) that I’ve ever seen.

My favorite Babyhome item is the Dream travel cot.  This reminds me of the baby clic I saw last year (also from Spain), but that one was never brought to the US.  This type of travel bed makes for a great mini crib or bassinet.

The Eat high chair is a super lightweight chair with an aluminum frame and removable, washable cover.  The chair also folds flat for storage.

The Onfour baby seat is unique because the wheels allow the chair to me moved easily without being lifted.  The Onfour is also super light and can fold flat.

Finally, Babyhome’s stroller is Emotion– an affordable, full featured, lightweight stroller.

All the products should be available January.  They all come in Orange, Red, Lime, Black, Sand, Purple, Navy and Brown, so you can have an entire rainbow of gear or get everything to match.

New From Boon at the ABC Kids Expo

I’ve been procrastinating with this post because there’s just so many exciting new products from Boon that I’ve got to share!

First and foremost, the Expo Center was buzzing about the Naked ($70).  Boon’s brand new baby bathtub, the Naked features a sleek collapsible design and is a great headlining addition to Boon’s bath collection.

Also new in the bath collection are the Whale Pods (love these!)…

…and a new color for the Bug Pod.

Most of the other bath toys will be available in other color combinations, and the Flo will also be available in the same magenta color as the new Bug Pod.

One brand new bath toy that looks really fun (meaning I want it) is Bubbles ($18).  They are collections of suction cup bath toys that stick to the tub and to each other.  Bubbles come in sets of 10.

One of my favorite products that I’ve just got to purchase ASAP are Boon’s new little snack boxes, Trunk and Cargo ($18).  My preschooler just doesn’t need the giant lunchboxes that we have, and these would be the perfect size.

I also love the new stacking snack containers: 2 high Penguin, 3 high Owl and 4 high Caterpillar.  They’re all so cute and come in three different color combinations each ($12-15).

Boon’s new feeding collection will also feature a new Catch Plate to go with the Catch Bowl, an updated Swap spoon and new Twig and Stem drying accessories ($6) to go with Grass and Lawn drying racks.  Yes, the walls of the booth were made of Lawn covered with Stems.

In boon’s organizing collection, the Turf front facing bookshelf ($50) is a nice new item…

and they are offering the Flaunt, Grip, and Curl in more colors.

The Loop diaper caddy ($50) will finally be coming out as well.  This is a really nicely designed product that I’ve been looking forward to since seeing the prototype last year.  Yay!

What new boon items are going on your wishlist?

Sixkid Furniture Collection

When I arrive at ABC Kids Expo, I’ve got a pretty good idea about the things I’m going to see.  I spend most of my time in the “Modern Child” area and I’ve got a list of all the companies whose booths I intend to visit.

But sometimes, you find some of the very best things when you’re just wandering.  It was the last afternoon of my trip and I just walked up and down some of the more unfamiliar isles when I spied a little gem in the Beck to Nature booth.  I must have been tired at that point because my photos came out particularly terrible, but these incredible little rocking horses caught my eye and I’ve been thinking about them ever since.

Check out the sixkid Rocking Horses.

This photo doesn’t even do them justice.  They are just perfect, heirloom quality rocking horses with a timeless modern style (and a price to match $500 and $700).  Believe me, if I could have gotten the big one home with me, I would have.

They also had the sixkid Kids Table and Grasshopper Kids Chairs on display and they’re both perfectly lovely.  The table is covered with a biodegradable linoleum that is easy to clean and the chairs are ultra lightweight.

It’s just little thing like these that make me happy.

The so-ro cradle : Finally!

As you may or may not know, one of the “rules” for products that I post on my blog is that they must be available in North America.  There are so many awesome products across the globe that I’d love for you to see, but when you’re planning your nursery or looking for things to purchase, it’s not going to be very helpful for you to see what you CAN’T buy.  I want you to see it, love it, and whether you’re in New York, Tennessee, Wyoming or like me in South Florida, you can at least place an order and have it delivered.

When some of the products I haven’t been able to share with you are suddenly made available in the US, you can be sure I’m jumping up and trying to be the first one to tell you about it.  Thanks to my trip to the ABC Kids Expo, I’ve been thrilled to introduce you to Ubabub, and finally now to the so-ro cradle.

Winner of the Norwegian Design Counsil’s Award for Design Excellence, the so-ro cradle is not only a beautiful, sculptural piece, but it is specifically designed for forward rocking, which is the most comfortable and soothing motion for babies.

Designer Ane Lillian Tveit was at the ABC Kids Expo presenting the cradle herself.  She had some cute little onesies on display to highlight the benefits of her design.  The shirts read, “Give me soothing linear motion to calm me down when I am tired” and “Give my positive circular motion to develop my balance when I am rested and happy.”  As an Occupational Therapist who specialized in children’s therapy, Ane knows what she’s talking about.

The cradle comes in walnut and in white.

It is unique in that it is also available as a double for twins.  The twin cradle features a dividing wall that can be removed when not needed.

The so-ro cradle retails for $800 and $1200 for the twin version.

A Few New Offerings from Monte

Monte was my first stop on the floor of the ABC Kids Expo.  Ralph Montemurro was on hand to show me their brand new twin Dorma Bed, which is a fully upholstered bed with headboard, footboard and side rails.

There is also a new ottoman for the Joya Rocker and a new Heather Grey color shown here on a Luca Glider.

The new items will be available to order in stores and online in about six weeks.

After about five years, Monte gliders are still the benchmark for modern nursery seating.  I can guarantee if they had been around when I purchased my nursery furniture (already 6 years ago!), there would be a Luca Glider in our home.  And if somehow we were faced with a baby #3, I sure hope we’d have a Ninna Nanna bassinet to await him or her.

Coming Soon From DwellStudio: New Nursery Items

I was excited to find lots of beautiful new goodies in DwellStudio‘s booth at ABC Kids Expo last weekend.

My favorite was this new woodland bedding set called Woodland Tumble.

It’s looks perfect with the Espresso Century crib and changer.

This rug is another part of the collection.

There are also two girly sets.  Vintage Blossom and…

…Rosette Blossom.

I also got to see the Unicorns twin bedding that I’d heard about from NYIGF.

I’m really excited about the two new gliders as well.  These high backed gliders are a great addition to the low backed gliders that came out last year.

There seem to be a couple new puzzles in DwellStudio’s collection.

And they’ve also got their own take on the classic shape sorting toy.

I’ll share more information about the items as it becomes available (December/January-ish).
