Norman Copenhagen Play Board (and more)
In the spirit of back-to-school, check out this Normann Copenhagen Play Board in Yellow.

Designed by Jesper K. Thomsen, the “Play” series is handmade in Denmark out of Lacquered Beech. Other items in the collection include the Play Soapbox Cart ($3150), a table ($380), bench ($370) and chairs ($315). (the Play collection is available at our affiliate All Modern Baby)

Some newer Norman Copenhagen items that might be fun to use in your modern nursery include the Watch Me Wall Clock ($50) and Woofy, the cable concealing dog ($200).

Io Crib From Kalon Studios
Yet another gorgeous creation from Kalon Studios. An updated version of the Ioline Crib, the new Io Crib features a lower height and is made of FSC Certified Bamboo. The lower height means this crib doesn’t need a folding side like the original Ioline crib has. Conversion sets to transform the crib into a toddler bed are also available.

Retails for $1595.

These are some of my favorite links from around the web over the past week.
Zoe Ellen’s Nursery was recently featured on ohdeedoh, but I like lay baby lay’s post about it much better. A beautiful space on a beautiful blog.

I love this Unique Wall Mural Idea on Nursery Notations. A wall mural using a “cross stitch” technique?! Like Andrika says, “cute and seems relatively doable right?”

Jason’s Modern Nursery Alphabet Blocks on Oh So Beautiful Paper are not for sale. I’m just showing you this awesome art piece to a) inspire you and b) make you jealous that some little girl has a dad cool enough to make this for her.

Nursery themes can go overboard and get totally tacky very quickly, but Erica at chalk + dot created this very restrained Nursery for a Little Fireman and I think it really works.

This roundup of DIY Modern Monograms on Modern Parents Messy Kids has a number of examples of personalized art pieces that are not only totally cute, but easy to make.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We’ll be recovering from our first week of school.
Threadless + Blik
It’s been a while since I’ve shared some Blik decals with you, so here are three cute ones that I’ve seen lately.

THE CHOIR OF ANTARCTICA- $45 Penguins + Piano

SHEEPY CLOUDS- $35- Sheep jump out of a plane

M!AW- $40 – cute cat is hangin’ out
And if you’re not ready to stick them all over your walls, you can always buy these threadless designs on a T-shirt.
New From DwellStudio: Papier-Mâché Head
Taxidermy style trophy heads have been popular for a while now with cardboard, knit and other more modern and animal-friendly variations. Now DwellStudio has come out with a brand new set of papier-mâché heads that would add a ton of fun and color to any nursery wall. My favorite is the giraffe but I think you’ve at least got to go with a set of three (Giraffe, Gazelle and Sky Zebra and/or Petal Zebra). They are $76 each and only available on dwellstudio.com.

Hats off to MomFinds for beating me to this one!
I Buy Modern: Recent Back to School Purchases

My little one started preschool yesterday (in the top photo) and today my older one started Kindergarten! So in addition to the new shoes and school uniforms, I bought a few back-to-school items.

2- So Young Green Rocket Lunchbox- $30
3- Goodbyn Original- $26
Etsy Find: Mirror Bunting from Fluxglass
For a new take on the bunting (aka garland, aka banner) trend, take a look at the Mirror Bunting from fluxglass. Where the usual bunting adds color, this one adds light and sparkle.

The two strands are sold separately, $58 for the large size and $44 for the small.
Fluxglass also make other fun shaped mirrors like state shapes, letters and this cute bird wall mirror.

Ohdeedoh featured Maya’s wonderful black, white and yellow nursery. I always loved Nurseryworks’ Macaroni crib (sadly, no longer available) and I love seeing the crib skirt here!

While I’m not a big DIYer, sometimes the best and most perfect mobile for your nursery is the one you make yourself. Prudent Baby rounded up 25 Free Mobile Tutorials for you to pick from. It’s a fabulous resource.

I’ve been eyeing Ferm Living’s new designs recently, but with two cats beat me to posting some of the highlights of their collection for Autumn/Winter 2011. The new pillows, lamps and wallpaper designs are fantastic and I’m sure I’ll be using them in some way in the near future!

Babyology posted a great series called, “It’s a fun decor trend: apples, apples, apples” with a selection of charming apple (of course) related items.

Finally, Child Mode posted a few pictures of the P’4911 Porsche Baby Stroller. This is still a design concept so don’t put it on your wishlist just yet!

For more info about this project, Greg from daddytypes really sums up all the relevant details in My Other Stroller Is A Porsche.
This week we also saw the sprouting of what I like to call “blog appreciation season.” It’s that time of the year when you can vote for and/or nominate your favorite blogs for various awards and recognition. It’s always exciting to get recognition, feedback and love from your readers and fans. There are currently a few ways you can do this!
1) Parents Magazine is collecting vote for their “Best Blog Awards.” You can vote for Buy Modern Baby under “Best Gear and Toys Blog.” If you have more than one favorite, you can vote for more than one site!
2) Nominations are open for the Totally Awesome Awards from red tricycle. It’s easy to nominate Buy Modern Baby for best Nursery and Decor Sites!
3) Finally, you can show some love (with just a click) for Buy Modern Baby on Babble’s Pregnancy Mom Blogs nomination list.
Thanks to you all and have a wonderful weekend!
New From Petit Collage for Fall
I’m a huge fan of Petit Collage so whenever I find something new from them I can’t wait to share it with you.
First, take a look at the sweet Deluxe Bird Mobile. It’s available with either blue or red wings for $66.

There are also 3 new Jumbo Wood Panel art pieces. Here’s the Bird Family and there’s also an Elephant Family and a Town (that I’d have called a Zoo) for $220. These measure 24″ x 36″.

Finally, there are a bunch of new $15 prints including Sweet Elephant, Story Bear, Purrfect Cat, and Hello Monkey.

You’ve just got to check out the entire collection of new Petit Collage products.
Finn + Emma Modern Organic Crib Bedding Collection
I’m always thrilled to find new crib bedding choices to help inspire your perfect nursery, but I’m even more excited when I find something that is organic as well. I’d like to introduce you to two bedding collections from Finn + Emma. Using only 100% G.O.T.S. certified organic cotton and OEKO TEX standard 100 certified inks and dyes, these collections are a beautiful choice for eco-conscious parents.
For boys, Finn + Emma are debuting the Scooter Crib Set ($420 with bumper or $190 without- and I LOVE that they are offering their sets without bumpers!!).

The girls Flower Crib Set is a rare purple modern set. I’m inspired by this color palette and can’t wait to work with it!

In addition to the sheet sets, you can find extra sheets, and matching blankets and Nap Sacs.
One last thing I have to show you from Finn + Emma is something even more exciting than the bedding… can you say “modern play gym”?! Oh yeah, hello! Add this Play Gym to your baby registry and to your baby gift giving lists ($135). There is a boy’s and a girl’s version with the difference being the colors on the hanging toys.
